Message From the Doctor

Over 35 years ago, after I graduated from the University of MD Dental School in Baltimore, my wife and I decided to return to the DC area, where we both grew up, to start a family and establish a dental practice.  As a general practitioner, I treat patients from age 2-99, providing care in all phases of dentistry and a full-range of dental services; that includes oral hygiene services, as well as orthodontics, including Invisalign; crowns; gum surgery; root canals; implants; and cosmetic procedures.  Treating each patient as an individual, I work to provide exceptional dental care that promotes long-term health, and to simultaneously ensure that the patient experience is as pleasant and anxiety-free as possible.

Good dental skill requires many years of practice along with a willingness to continue learning. Throughout my years of working with patients, I've remained committed to continuing my education and staying current on the most recent research.  The last 25 years have brought great progress in our ability to repair damaged teeth, but my education and experience have demonstrated to me that the best method for maintaining dental health is preventing problems before they occur.  Clear evidence of the connection between the mouth and the rest of the body only reinforce the importance of preventing dental disease in improving and maintaining general good health.  My belief in the value of prevention greatly informs the way I practice dentistry.  My examinations, consultations, and services all stress a preventive approach.  I enjoy studying the latest preventive techniques and sharing the knowledge with my patients.

I make every effort to provide my patients thorough information about their dental health and treatment. However, I realize I will not be able to anticipate all of the concerns you may have; so, please ask questions when you come in for your appointment--I want my patients to feel comfortable and be well-informed about their own health.  If you find you have questions after you leave the office, The Academy of General Dentistry has an excellent online resource designed to meet the needs of people looking for more information about their dental care. My educational website, TheHealthyMouth.com, is another resource for you to learn more.  Let me know what you discover-- I’ll do my best to clarify anything that is still confusing and provide answers you still haven’t found, and call the office with any follow-up questions; I’m here to help.
